During lunch, Bruno and I were guessing how many children die every day. The CIA World Fact Book came to the rescue: in 2004, slightly more than 12 infants (12.3; aged one year or less) died per minute. The overall number of deaths per minute, regardless of age, is 107.5. This number is countered by about 246 births per minute. So out of 246 births, 12 kids won't last until their first year. In Angola, that's 47.03, whereas in Belgium, that's 1.15, and in Sweden only 0.68.
