Mobile blogging: slightly tweaked perceived reality
While the world was breathlessly awaiting Russell's moblogger, I was happily email-blogging for weeks using HEP. Yes, HEP allows you to send mail to its SMTP-daemon, and have that routed through XMLRPC (and a choice of blogger APIs) to your weblog. I assume this allows you to do so-called 'mobile blogging', if you happen to own a mobile device with a decent MUA.

Yes, but isn't HEP a client app - whereas Russ's is a server app. If I install HEP on my home machine (that's protected by a firewall by my ISP), I'll never be able to e-mail blog will I? Whereas with Russ's tool, I *think* I can set it up on my server (where my blog is at) and then e-mail to an address I setup.

Please correct me if I'm wrong ;)

HEP definitely is a server app, but its reachability is being defined by its deployment, just like Radio and AmphetaDesk. I have HEP running on a server, with a slightly perforated firewall, and can access both its POP and SMTP service from outside. IIUC, Moblogging scans a POP box, detects special messages and publishes these through XMLRPC to a weblog. I'm missing the mobile aspect here :-)
