After a long hard slog working in Melbourne, finally its all over. Will spend the next week relaxing in sydney before flying back to Germany. Hopefully the northern winter would have lost most of its sting by the time I get back there.
I recently bought an Optio S digital still camera, very compact, very nice but unfortunately it does not seem to be supported under Linux. Apparently, drivers are available online for both Windows and Mac but not Linux.
Under debian the gtkam application does not recognize the camera, so one needs to mount the camera manually as an USB mass storage device.
To that end, one needs to add the cameras usb id to the "driver/usb/storage/unusual_devs.h" header file in the kernel source. In my case (kernel version 2.4.20) I needed to add the following
UNUSUAL_DEV( 0x0a17, 0x0006, 0x0000, 0xffff,
"Pentax",
"Optio S",
US_SC_8070, US_PR_CB, NULL, US_FL_MODE_XLATE|US_FL_FIX_INQUIRY),
After you have done that , you will need to recompile the kernel as normal and mount the camera (/dev/sda1)
Spent Last weekend seaside with Jeff and Marcus! We stayed at great little baech house in Portarlington in Victoria. Really nice town, can highly recommend it. Funny things is, I actually attempted surfing for the very first time in in my life. Previously I had just boogie boarded...my gawd is it difficult standing up on that board! Definitely one for the web log.
Here is a picture of me at the baech house standing in front of the kicthen. Not that i cooked anything mind you Woops naked feet.
Became a GodFather for the very fist time last Saturday night, my GodDaughter being none other than my little niece Annie-Rose. Stangely Im not talking with that dry sore throat one usually associates with "GodFathers" - well not yet anyway.
Hope to post some pictures of the ceremony online soon.
