Just over an hour I wondered why the Apple store went down :)

Apple on the move!
With Macworld last week, Apple came out with several new and cool announcements.
First up the iPod Shuffle
which as the name suggests, shuffles all 120 songs you can fit on it for a random selection of music every time.
Next up is the Mac Mini
Which looks quite cool, and is poised to become an Apple media center IMHO. After all, with Apple being in the online music business, next up could be it's entry into the online video/movie business.
The mini is definitely a lower powered machine, but still good enough for plenty of purposes. It's also cheaper than some of the iPods!
In addition to this there were updates to iLife, the Apple productivity suite, and the introduction of iWork, an Apple office suite.
Many Apple accessory companies also made some interesting annoucements as well during Macworld, for example Griffin with their BlueTrip Bluetooth transmitter for the iPod

The Bluetooth transmitter is particularly interesting - I've got the iTrip which is an FM based transmitter, but with the FM dial being so covered with radio stations it's difficult to find a good frequency, especially when travelling.
Many of us were awaiting the announcement of an updated Powerbook. Alas nothing was mentioned last week aside from a few rumours, but then a report from Digitimes claimed that a company from Taiwan had been given an order to build updated Powerbooks running a G5 processor, for delivery Q2 2005. We're all certainly awaiting further information/confirmation about this, particularly since it ties in well with OSX Tiger being released before mid-year.

Cancun!
Well, after an awesome week in Cancun, Mexico, I'm now back in Frankfurt. Flew back into Germany over the weekend.
The trip was really great fun, marked by many visits to the beach, clubs like Coco Bongo (photo above), Glazz and more!
It was also great to see many familiar faces of friends from Australia and the US who were also in town at the same time.

Groovy presentation
After a wonderful New Years eve weekend I spent some time yesterday getting my Groovy Debian package up to date, and added some of the documentation from the source code and website to an additional groovy-doc package.
While browsing the Groovy website, I came across James' JavaOne presentation which I read this morning. Quite interesting and cool stuff. There's some really nice fetaures there, particularly the closure, gpath, and extra JDK support! :)
