Photos from when I was in Adelaide are now online. They're mostly of where my folks live and places we went to in the Adelaide Hills (Hahndorf, Mt. Barker, etc).
Heaps more are on the way including Melbourne, Sydney, etc. I'll post again when they are also online. :)
Well, after 26 hours of travelling, I arrived back in Frankfurt 7am this morning. It's been a long day, but fun. Qantas even upgraded us to Business Class on the Singapore to Frankfurt leg (12 hour flight) which was great. :)
Time to get some rest, but photos from the trip will be online tomorrow! :)

I've just found out that my girlfriend Kristin has been tracking my travels through Australia by reading my weblog! So, a special hello goes out to her (pictured above when we sailed the Whitsunday islands together in February), all my love sweetie! :)
Work in Melbourne has been going really well! We've been developing a new application using Avalon, in particular checking out how one of the new Avalon Container's Fortress works.
Fortress looks really good, and has worked quite well for us as an embedded Container during the construction of our prototype application. Several advantages over ECM include asychronous component management, extensible lifecycle, service manager and dynamic role support, amongst others.
Looking forward to getting back in to the Avalon source :)
Back in Adelaide now, flew in this evening to visit the folks before heading back to Germany this coming monday. Will be flying into Frankfurt on the 27th.
This weekend I'll be heading up to Sydney for a few days to visit Michael, and to see some of the city.
Also started catching up with all of my tertiary mailboxes and noticed that Carsten, Matthew, Giacomo and Nicola were in Frankfurt for JAX! and that there was a Cocoon Stammtisch!! - sorry I missed you guys! :( Will have to catch up when I get back soon!
One of the great things that I've recently noticed about working with Open Source and Free Software in general is the portability of that knowledge, code and experience.
We're currently starting up a new project at work, and it's great being able to reuse the knowledge of lots of 3rd party libraries, projects, designs and code that we've been exposed to via our involvement with Cocoon, Avalon and open/free software in general.
This really helps us focus on the real business of what we're trying to achieve, and keeps us from being bogged down in low level technical ground work, which is great.
Been back in Melbourne now for the week after visiting the folks in Adelaide last weekend. Melbourne is really a great city, there's so much life and action going on. Our company is in Box Hill, which is about 12kms from the City, 30-45mins driving time depending on the traffic.
Last night we were all out at clubs and bars in St. Kilda, Toorak, the City, Port Melbourne, and Brunswick. What a busy night! :)
This weekend hopefully we'll get to an AFL football game too, which to the unitiated probably looks like a chaotic all in scram for a ball. It is however, a really great game, especially for an Aussie! :)
I'm currently in Adelaide visiting the folks. Great day today, travelling to Hahndorf, Mt. Barker, and Nairne in the Adelaide Hills. Tomorrow morining its back on the plane to fly back to Melbourne and back to work. 2 weeks to go in Australia before heading back to Europe.
Photo's coming soon too! :)
