Typo 4.0.0 has just been released. Just a few weeks back I installed a new Typo installation directly from subversion which went well - but it's great to see an official release of the latest goodies.
There's some really nice changes, in particular distribution - typo is now distributed as a gem and can be installed via the usual rubygem command:
$> gem install typo
and then:
$> typo install /some/path
to create an instance of a weblog.
Another nice feature is the 'redirect table', which allows you to migrate from other blogging solutions easier by providing URL's where Typo should look when it doesn't recognise the URL it's been given (eg. to migrate from Movable Type to Typo style permalinks).
There's a few other nice features like text filter plugins so you can use your favourite article markup, support for Rails 1.1, jabber and email notification of comments and trackbacks, and more.
I'm particularly looking forward to using the new installer with another new blog coming in the near future.
