Newsforge are running an interesting article about a project conducted by Siemens Business Services to test out Linux on the desktop with non-technical people.
Their resulting statement "Linux has matured as a desktop and will quickly vault to the #2 most-installed OS in the world".
Also interesting is another quote about Linux and the Ximian Gnome desktop - "...Linux will save 20% to 30% in administration costs, 50% in hardware costs, and 80% in licensing fees".
How will the commercial alternatives compete against that ? :)
